Character's Name: Ernest Alan Macmillan

Birthdate: February 24th, 1980

Family background: Ernie comes from a large family. He's the oldest of eight children. He has six younger sisters and one younger brother. His parents like to joke that they had two sets. There are the four oldest (Ernie, Sorcha, Lorna and Moira), a five year gap and then the next four (Keavy, Aisla, Davey and Mysie). They were always a tight knit group, but Ernie has always been closest to Davey, despite the fourteen year age gap.
House in School: Hufflepuff
Bloodline: Pureblood
Political Views: Well, he's bloody annoyed that he has to pay such high taxes, other than that he doesn't really give a rats arse.

Appearance

Description: Ernie is generally considered a good looking young man (he hears this most often from his Gran, who follows it up with 'so why can't you find a nice girl?'). He stands at about six feet tall, and has a rather wiry build. He has shaggy dark brown hair and a fair amount of scruff, unless by some miracle he remembers to shave before work. His eyes are the most remarkable thing about him, brilliant blue and framed by long sooty lashes.

Psychology and Personality
Sexuality: Straight. Very straight. So straight that it's impossible to even think anything bendy about him.
Strengths and Weaknesses: Strengths: He's loyal, friendly and compassionate. He's a lot smarter than people give him credit for. He's good with children. And he's scrupulously honest, which could also be a weakness. Weaknesses: He plays the overprotective big brother role to perfection, but has a tendency to go overboard. He's quite pompous, can (and will) insult people without meaning to, and then become completely baffled when they get upset. Yes, he is kind of thick in that way.
Habits\Quirks: He snaps his fingers while he's thinking. He lives in what he likes to call organized chaos. His office is a mess, but he claims to know where everything is.
Likes\Dislikes: Likes: Muggle films, spending time with his family, spending time away from his family, watching Quidditch. Dislikes: Being called Ernest, eggs, most animals and anything with an argyle pattern.

Lifestyle
Occupation: Obliviator. He mainly works out of the Ministry, but is occasionally called out to the field.
Financial Status: If you don't count the family money, and he doesn't, it's comfortable. He makes a good living with enough for his needs, and plenty left over for his wants.

History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time:

Ernie was sorted into Hufflepuff house and he loved it. He had an easy time making friends and became especially close with two of them, Hannah Abbott and Justin Finch-Fletchley. During his second year, Ernie believed that Harry was the Heir of Slytherin after he spoke Parseltongue in the Dueling Club. Harry was trying to stop the snake from attacking Justin, but Ernie believed that Harry was telling the snake to attack and stepped in. He believed his suspicions confirmed when Justin was Petrified after that. The attack on Hermione changed Ernie's mind, he realized that Harry couldn't be the Heir of Slytherin and he gave Harry a public apology.

In his fifth year, Ernie became a Hufflepuff Prefect. And unlike previous years, when he believed that Harry was guilty of all the things he was being accused of, Ernie believed Harry when he said that Lord Voldemort had returned. He even made a public declaration of support on Harry's behalf. Shortly after the beginning of the year he joined Dumbledore's Army, believing it to be one of the most important things they'd be doing that year, aside from O.W.L.s.

Since he was a pureblood, Ernie was able to return to Hogwarts for his seventh year after the Ministry of Magic fell under Lord Voldemort's control, where he joined the revived Dumbledore's Army.

At the meeting McGonagall held in the Great Hall, when she laid out plans to evacuate the younger students from the school, Ernie spoke up about staying to fight the Death Eaters. He fought in the final battle and helped, among other things, to drive away a group of Dementors.

After school he went into the Auror training program and once he'd finished that, he applied for Obliviator training and has worked as one since then, though he was in Italy from May to the beginning of January, working to bring the Italian Ministry up to date on the latest techniques in Obliviation.
